The Festival
The London Culture Festival is an annual London-wide cultural arts festival celebrating the city’s extraordinary cultural mix through various art forms such as music, dance and visual arts. Now approaching its third year, the festival is enjoyed by Londoners and visitors to the city, who tap into an array of entertainment and learning experiences.
The Festival aims to:
- Educate and inspire audiences across London, and the wider community, by tapping into and sharing some of the city’s indigenous communities.
- Advance innovation and creativity by raising the profile of the city’s artistic residents.
- Provide a platform for new and emerging artists from London.
- Strenghthen London’s cultural offering by working in partnership with the creative sector and other agencies.
- Present a diverse, quality and fun programme of events and activities.
What else we do
In addition to our annual flagship festival, we also run peripheral events and activities throughout the year.
When is the next festival?
The London Culture Festival will run from Monday 13 – Sunday 19th August 2012.
Background
2010 saw the birth of this multicultural festival. It arose from a simple team building day made up of creative individuals representing a fraction of the different communities in London. Together we spent the day traipsing around London from Richmond, Brixton and Harrow to Brick Lane, Camden and Cockfosters soaking up the vibrancy and many cultures London has to offer. It was amazing, educational and so much fun. We witnessed Turkish women making traditional Turkish bread, observed how to make real Chinese Eggdrop soup and drank Indian Lassi.
That’s when we summed it up instantly. “Why spend months travelling around the world to sample different cultures when you can spend two weeks in London and do the same thing”. The rest as they say is history!
The London Culture Festival is curated and produced by Vjem Events.
